skunk2 or junk?
im looking for some new shocks and struts are skunk2s any good? keep on hearing there junk but really had to ask the pros. i found skunk2 shocks/struts with tein springs. is it worth it? im going to put them on my 97 ek sedan on 16s. any info would be great.
Junk. IMO, save for some Koni/GC. Probably the most used/proven set up out there. Usually about $800, lifetime*** warranty on both shocks and coilovers, choose your own spring rates, ride with a small drop or completely slammed, and improve your handling much more over those junk2s.

Junk!!! I hate Skunk2!!! I just got some Progress CS II coilovers to replace my junk2 setup. Depends on if you plan on being slammed but if your looking for a moderate drop and a great ride Progress.
Are you buying a used set? are skunk2s any good? Good for what? Is it worth it? that all depends on what you have now and if its a good deal or not.
There are way too many variables that go into answering a question about suspension. Reading that some people say its junk does not mean its junk.

Buy good quality stuff even if you only want to be slammed. Don't cheap out on your pride and joy just cause you want to be low

thanks for the advice. i also found some koni for 275. and also found some Blox for 250. Blox or koni ? looking for something that will handle good during turning etc. dont want ride to Be Bouncing all over the place. with a little lowering not slamming im not looking to pull my Bumper on the entrance of my driveway .
Had a set of Skunk2 sport shocks on my H&R race springs for the last few years. They were alright, but just. Low speed damping was actually just right, but they were a little underdamped on the high speed, so things like reflectors and quick bumps were a little annoying. Got a solid 50k out of them before they started going south. For the price, I have zero complaints.
I just last weekend replaced them with a set of Koni sports though. I forgot just how good these shocks are.
I would agree with the posters above... hold out for Konis or Bilsteins. You won't be disappointed.

There is a reason why so many people think it is crap. Because it is. I don't have junk2s on my car (koni/gc), but one of my buddies does. Sucks, not even that low, ride is harsh as hell, and doesn't handle as well as one would think it should, and overall craftmanship/quality is a joke
Ground Control and Koni's go hand in hand...

However, regardless of opinion or not, the craftsmanship/quality of skunk2 is lacking. Much better stuff can be had for the same price or a bit more.
Tein is meh. They have some great stuff, and they also have some crap. Just save for some GC/Koni's, lifetime warranty on shocks and coilovers. Good shocks/coilovers or springs will run you at least $600, if that is too much then don't lower your car or start saving
Tein always has made some very good suspension parts and the quality is usually pretty good from my own cars. I have Skunk 2 suspension on my Ef hatch back right now and like said above the ride is REALLY harsh. The way the car sits and how it looks is very good but when you drive it the sounds and feelings are all together really rough.
i wouldnt bother with tein's entry level stuff considering what you can get a set of gc/koni's, amr, pic, etc., for. you have to spend a lot for their good stuff.
