Ohlins shocks/struts
I bought an 88 Civic hatch and it has Neuspeed Race springs with Ohlins shocks/struts.
I am wondering about the specs on the Ohlins because they seem to be rare and Ohlins is a well-respected suspension manufacturer. Can anyone tell me about them?
I am trying to decide what combo to go with on my 91 CRX:
springs:
Neuspeed Race(on 88 hatch right now) or Ground Control (on 91 CRX right now)
shocks:
Ohlins (on 88 hatch right now) or KYB AG6(on 91 CRX right now)
I want a nice-handling car that isn't too harsh. I thought the 88 hatch was rough until I bought the 91 CRX and now I can feel every bump, including the little refelective things in the road, in the CRX. The Ground Controls are set-up pretty low from the previous owner's settings, but damn, the thing does handle nicely.
Anyway, any info/advice will be appreciated.

Those ohlins you have are pretty rare. I don't have the specs and I bet you cant find them because they dont make them for ef's anymore. If I owned an ef I would be on a hunt to find another set.
I personally have had 2 set of ohlins.
There they are one set for an ef and another dc/eg pcv setup. Bothe were on an eg6 at one time.

Both rode great. The ride was firm and the handling made the harshness bareable. I would look into getting them rebuilt because I bet they have some miles on them. Contact ohlins usa to see what they can do. Any lowerig spring that fits on a stock strut is your option for spring rates.

You might be able to get them serviced but I don't know if the Ohlins rebuilders can do it as the units that you have aren't actually made by Ohlins. There is normally a little sticker on them near the top saying that they were made for Ohlins by another company (one of the large Japanese shock companies if I recall). Check with Motorsports Spares to see if they can service what you have.

They also made a set that had non adjustable spring perches etc. which I'm assuming is what this guy has. They originally came with a spring and looked just like an OE replacement with a welded spring perch and non adjustable. My freind had them and they were very stiff. I would imagine that if you were driving around on the neuspeed springs for a while the shocks are probably in sad shape as they were designed around a ~600lb spring.

i found front shocks/springs ohlins for the DA. i had them at my doorstep for $81. they came off of a front clip. installed, with stock rear suspension, and they are stiff as ****. i lovethem. now i have no clue what to do with the rear suspension for this year's autox season :\
oh yeah, mine are NOT adjustable either, and the springs, although the same length, the ones on the ohlins look mad thicker.

i actually installed them with such excitement i forgot to take pictures... and now my car's in the body shop (i pulled a tom callahan.. the hood flew up and smashed into the windshield.. :\ ) i'll try to get some pictures when i put my new wheels/tires on :D
If anyone is interested, I have a set of Ohlins for an EK application. The set has 10/8k springs with rebound and height adjustment...excellent condition. I even have the original boxes

Contact ohlins usa. http://www.ohlins.com
I know in japan some shops will revalve them with their custom setups.

The older set is adjusted with notches and a wire c-clip.
