Default comptech differential and ricks 4.57 gears question

do u guys think that it is neccessary to get the comptech diff to go along with the 4.57 gears....i was told that is a good safty precaution...but i have mixed feelings about spending the extra doe...i know the stock rear diff cant be that weak

i had plans for turbo...but the build is way too expensive...so for now im starying NA....maybe way later down the road i will get an SC or something

the comptech diff is just stronger studs correct???

and alos...if u do intall the gears in the stock diff...what is needed??? and pointers??

Honestly, if you have dreams of turbo, will you ever be happy going NA?

It is slightly more than just studs. The issue with the failing differentials is due to the ring gear backing out and just shredding itself into the pinion gear, which not only makes a mess but trashes the differential - almost completely. If you do go for it, just consider it 'insurance' if nothing else. If you launch the car at all, I'd recommend it, but it isn't my pocketbook that I'm playing with here.

Well let me rephrase, given you dont have the money for turbo, u dont have the money for real NA (which would be slower then turbo) but yeah, set a goal now. If you just want a little more pep i have heard that the FD is without a doubt the best single thing to do to make it happen. Just dont wind up spending a shitload over time on NA and being unhappy when you could have saved for FI and been fast as youd like.

What exactly will you be doing with the built N/A motor in your S2K?

assuming you would need the EMS either way, just those mods alone are almost halfway, if not more then half of a FI system. And youd be getting very very minimal gains, doesnt seem very cost effective at all.

I have seen kits done for 5k plus $500 for tuning and then EMS. I have also seen people spend more/as much going NA and then get smoked by those who are FI. I mean if NA is your thing, or maybe for roadcourse events where it might be more worthwhile, cool, but most people want all out speed and theres only one practical way to get there in this car.

can be we get back to the question about the gears

turbo is nice...but i dont have the funds for resleeving the block (sleeves, pistons, rods, install, headgasket, etc) + turbo kit and all other BS that is needed for turbo....i can stay NA and build up slowly not all at once like is needed for FI

the comptech housing is just bearing caps. I would pass it up.
