Default Seatbelt Conversion

I'm considering changing out the seatbelts in my ride for the non-automatic 88-89 seatbelt setup so that I can put in some nice Recaro's or other seats. Anyone done this or know someone who has?

I've gotten the parts printout from my Honda dealership and I think that if I can find an 88-89 in a wrecking yard, I should be able to get everything. I know it will mean replacing the linings with 88-89 & I'm going to have to figure out how to disable the seat belt sensor that's in the automatic belt, but is there anything else I might be missing?

TIA,
Eric

would it be easier to just swap in the entire door? you'll get more weight savings that way, as well...

Well, the actual seatbelt is not on the door. It is on a track right inside the door.

I hate the seatbelts. They are such a pain and they don't quite fit right. At least on me. I like having the adjustability of manual seatbelts.

Ive tried it...Went to a wrecker and they had a 90 and an 89....

Took off parts and everything..the problem is the 90 has none of the same mounting points as the 89.....it just doesnt fit anywhere in that panel...

If you can get someone who welds really well to weld up some bungs and cut some material out it may be possible...

another thing...Try sourcing some from 90-91 Canadian models..they didnt get auto belts in Canada...

Ahh, the all the trials and tribulations of US CRX's and Civics. I count myself lucky on this occasion to live in Canada and have a Canadian CRX. I still don't understand why the US models have all that seatbelt stuff...it seems like it adds a lot of weight. Must be all in the line of safety...
