What engines can you swap into a 85 CRX?
Plug and play, basicly only an 86-87 teg (because of the distributor/ignition change in 88).
Other than that, it depends on how much you want to spend for an ECU/wiring harness/motor mounts/hubs/machine work...
On the plus side, I have a spare turbo or two ... IM me for those if interested (one for the stock 12V, one for the DOHC).
P.S. having it be an Si to begin with would help, to start (otherwise you'll at leastneed to re-wire for fuel injection).

TJ - I don't know about that old CRX. You'll be hard pressed to find new/good parts for suspension, bearing, CV, etc. Motor is just one part of the equation. I wouldn't get a '85 CRX unless it was given to me for free.
.....hasport has a mount kit for a b series now.
itr motor would be nice!

I hope to have my parts car stuff (87 RS teg) swapped into my motorless 87 CRX Si over the pre-Christmas weekend (in Ohio).
Then after I get it inspected in VA, I'm gonna finally mount it up with that Drag II kit I bought a couple years ago.
(just gotta figure out whether to run a rising gate regulator for fuel
, or re-wire for Zdyne
$$)
Make sure you check the body/attachment area of the rear panhard rod. This area can get rusted pretty badly depending on where the car was. It would be a pretty hairy ride if it let go while you were driving.
As for parts, you can get larger torsion bars, springs, konis, tokicos and sway bars. You really don't need to do much with the front sway bar. If you want to go bigger up front you just get one out of a Civic station wagon. For the rear you can use a 1st gen integra rear axle and get a larger sway bar (internal) and disc brakes. If you really wanted to stiften the rear you just weld up the internal sway bar and you get rid of the "floater" type rear end. I fyou want to stick with the stock 12v Si engine or even the D16 from the integra or better yet the ZC engine, let me know I build headers for those engines also.

Yup, ...Dave!
I've already got some 23mm bars (probably upgrade to 27's), Tokico Illuminas and OPM's adj 1" rear bar/cut wagon springs/adj panhard rod (and yes it is rusted, to be reinforced). It already has a 4 pt. rollbar (just need the bolt-in hardware to finish the rollcage). Dave, you do cages?
Also have a torsen for the teg tranny, just no time to go back home to turn wrenches.
Probably go Zdyne, and chase down Yak's red bomber on the roadcourse @ VIR.
P.S. heres the hard part: do I do this to my motorless 87, or to my lighter/nicer/still running 85?

I have a set of the very rare 27.5s and should be getting some custom ones that are bigger, so I may be interested in selling these. I'm actually looking at some tube benders right now and therefore could do cages, but not sure if I want to take on the liability that goes with it. Did you get your diff from Jamie Housman? I run the 12v Si head with Civic 4WD block that bolts right up to the 1st gen Teg tranny. I have a quaife, Mugen 1st and 2nd gears and the 86 Prelude Si 3rd gear, stock 4th, 5th and FD. The gear spacing is just awesome.

I also had a Mugen diff and a full set of fresh Tokicos, but I haven't been able to find them for years (I think my dad threw them out/I might have left that stuff in "the wrong pile" last time I cleaned out his garage)!!
I have the tubing for the rest of the AutoPower cage, but I bought the "weld in" stuff to add to my existing roll bar.
I've been looking for a 3.8 FD instead of the stock 4.2 in the teg tranny (to go with the turbo/long downhill straights/top speed), but don't know anyone in England or Japan who can source one for me. That's OK, I'll just "be slow".

I may well take you up on those front bars.
Nice talking with you, I guess George knows where you're new place is (I'm in Alexandria).
Have a good day, ... Ed

Jamie Housman can build you anything you want for it.
Here is my speed in each gear and the calculated rpm after I shift
Gear MPH@8000 SHIFT/RPM
1 50.3
2 68.5 5867
3 89.7 6109
4 109.8 6540
5 134.6 6524

Dave, thanks for the input!
I have relatives that live nearby Jamie, just cant afford/need custom stuff.
But, I'm starting to get that racing bug that's been going around, however there aren't many classes for FI.
We actually met at a dyno day in Charlotte w/Jack and the NC crew,
I had my 97 R and made all that noise on the roller with my 032Rs!
Later, been nice, but now and then I need to do the stuff they pay me for here at the "Office". /ed

I wish I could run a B series in my class but not with GT4. I wouldn't like the extra weight on the nose though.
Looks like a sweet kit. I may look into getting that rear mount and then making it work for my set up. My stock mount keeps cracking.

That Mugen CRX has flares almost as large as my aero killers. Ah, the old scary turn going under the bridge at Road Atlanta. Talk about tightening up those *** cheeks. I really hated having to look for a spot in the bleachers to have an idea of where my car would be after cresting the hill.
I had a red 85 Si just like that.
