BIG PROB. engine dies on accelleration
94 4cyl. I'm having problems after taking out the throttle body and cleaning it. The idle is now very low and unstable. it jumps up and down about 100-200RPMs. The main problem is that it dies at about 2000+ RPMs Sometimes the engine dies completely or it will almost stall and then come back on. Everything i believe is connected back the right way. I washed the entire thing. I'm worried i somehow messed up the Intake air control(IAR) bolted to the bottom of the throttle body. I took it off and let water get in there. The haynes manual says this is activated at 2900 RPMs and that could be the point where the engine is dying. The manual says the IAR provides air and quietes the charge, if the IAR isn't working can this kill the engine? could the throttle position sensor be out after getting wet. The throttle linkages being out or locked up at somepoint wouldn't cause this would it? what could this be? It idles ruff, and then dies after accellorating.
any cel's coming on?
try removing it and drying everything out and give it another go...
sometimes when i take mine for cleaning it dies the first few cranks but runs normally after...
if idles low check the plug behind the Tb little round sucker facing the firewall (IAC)

don't think the cel was on.
i left it out to dry but i'm going to try it again tomorrow.
That plug is in. would that sensor or the throttle sensor on top going out cause this. I had a camry with the throttle position sensor unplugged and it ran really rough but didnt come close to dying. it did idle rough though

all those sensors can be checked with a multimeter if you have one... that way you can determine what the problem is before you go throwing $ into parts youre not sure about. but yea all sensors can cause your car to run sluggish or not run at all depending on which ones.
Sounds like your TPS sensor is hooked up to the wrong plug.
If it idles irratically and when you give it gas it only rev to about 2k then dies off thats probably your problem. I know theres a couple of sensors on the back of the intake manifold that could be hooked up wrong. IAC valve plug, TPS and Map are all in the same area.
I'm almost positive that whats wrong because I had the exact same issue.
