Default Hamp Oil Filters!

Are these worth using on a non-vtec engine, since we dont dont have to rely on oil pressure for vtec? I already have a GSR oil pump, but wanted to know if it the extra oil pressure would be beneficial?

Also is there a dealer in San Diego, CA that stocks these?

No? Have you used them? I thought about buying some myself. I heard they are identical to the s2000 oil filters.

all Honda filters carry the same oil pressure , its impossible to raise it unless you rework the oil pump , IE: pressure release valve...

Then what is so special about them then?(Hamp or the S2K filters)

And why does everyone say it increases oil pressure?

they've obviously never taken a Bseries oil pump apart , it has its own pressure regulator in it , raising oil pressure is impossible without altering that.

So is there nothing special about these filters! Can I just use a Mobil 1 filter and be just as good as any other supposed performance filter!

I also like the K/N filters actually , if you've ever cut one apart and compared to a Honda one you'd see.

K&N no longer has the synthetic filter element!

Increase in volume will decrease the pressure in the overall system. Careful what you label impossible.

I did some research and found this yesterday! You are right, they are both made by TOYO ROKO!

5psi increase on which side of the filter? basically, a smaller filter, or one with more restrictive filter media will cause a larger pressure drop, increasing pressure in the system before the filter, thereby increasing strain/stress on the engine and pump, causing pumping losses.

many filters with check-valves just bypass the filter media if the pressure gets too high, since it's better to have dirtier oil than not enough oil, so if this is the effect of using a smaller filter, why use one at all?

the best filter is one which filters just good enough to reasonably clean the oil and pass it on. a larger filter will also reduce the pressure drop and associated pumping loss.

Get a Mobil 1. I run the M1-105 and its the best. See this:

http://www.ntpog.org/reviews/f...shtml

By the way if you do go with the oversize 105 instead of the 104 like me you will notice your oil light stays on just a second or so long when you start your car. Its just because of the extra volume it takes an extra second or so to fill the filter and get proper oil pressure. Just something I noticed, it is not bad in any way. These filters kick ***! Cost me $9.99 at Autozone. That plus my 5 quart container of Mobil 1 5W30 for $24.99 lasts me 4000-5000 miles.

Another fairly new entry into the market is the Napa swirl action filter. Might be a gimmick but supposedly, the Nascrap cars use this design in their cars...

Might one advantage is to keep the oil pressure stable as the oil heats up and thins out?

If it has a pressure release valve it may not INCREASE oil pressure, but it might be able to keep it stable/prevent it from dropping.

I remember reading that hamp parts were made as a cheaper alternative to expensive OEM Honda parts in other countries. I got this info off of some hamp site from Thailand a few years ago IIRC. One thing i do remember is that hamp products use recycled materials.
