Default tranny... throte cable!!!!!

the car is a 90 accord ex automatic tranny
now when i run the cable from the throte body to the tranny,,,, i put the cable tight. but the thing is that when i drive the second gear will change very had. when it goes from 1st gear to 2nd gear there will be a bang and u will hear and feel it a lot. also if i keep the gas pedale steady,,,, the car will stay at 2900rpm without changing from 2nd gear to 3rd gear. its like a manual car. i have to let off the gas pedale a little so it can change from 2nd to 3rd gear. also there will the loud and u will feel it alot.

my question is . how do i set the cable up. do i make it tight at the throte body??? or do i have to let it loose a little bit?????

i checked the manual and it don't give clear answers. i also asked some mechanics and they give me mixed answers?????
i also looked at another automatic accord and the cable was very tight. but the car drives like **** when the cable is tight at the throte body....... and i think i am ******* up the tranny by doing that???

so anyone has any idea how do i have to set up that cable?????

weird,, its off topic but i have the same issue with my mitsu gst a few years ago.. turned out the cable was not positioned properly, mechanic did something to it and got it switching perfectly... so try setting the cables a little loose see if it helps.

Check the adjustment on the trans throttle cable. Sounds like it might be too tight. When correctly adjusted, the throttle plate should just open slightly before the throttle control arm on the transmission starts to move.

thanks. i did this. but the tranny shifts the gears over 3000rpms.
like first gear shifts at 2900rpm,,, second gear it shifts at 3200rpm and third gear it shifts at 3000rpm. and i am not pushing the car hard. just taking it easy driving it.
