Default Best Plugs, etc?

Hi, Im a new member around here, Ive done a search but it seems like the opinion varries (some say NGK, etc.)

I was just wondering what spark plug works best on these engines, I haven't done any maintence on this vehcile in 50k, and are planning on doing plugs, wires, cap & rotor, air filter, pcv valve, fuel filter, the normal, ya know?

It's been getting around 31mpg, but with the age of all those I hope for more, any suggestions on specific brands?

platinum plus 4 is a gimmick and they are known to not work well in hondas.

honda reccomends ngk or denso in the owners manual, stick with those brands.

platinum sucks. stick with copper or iridiums if you want the extra longevity.

NGK R-Type 5ZFR11. best for the F22.

oh, and buy a K&N drop in panel filter and remove the resonator box. you'll get a little boost in power.

best for the F22, but are they also best for the F23?

by removing the resonator box, its louder, but is it just louder at WOT, or the entire rpm range? I enjoy the quiet ride while crusing, but a little boost is always nice.

Some people suggested that Denzo iridium plugs are good. Is this true? Or should I stick with NGK?

I've read threads that have talked about people having problems when using Bosch plugs and not have good fitment with plug wires.

i would get the NGK iridiums over the denso cause they have a larger tip and will last longer plus they are cheaper. if you don't mind changing plugs every 20k-25k though coppers are the best bang for your buck plug.

basically the same motor. the stock plugs in all F22s and F23s are the same NGK copper plug, ZFR5-F11.

My experience with this is that it gets louder around 3k rpm, or at WOT. Otherwise it sounds close to stock for cruising. Not much of a boost but it is there... Personally I just hate cars with all bark and no bite.

I'm using NGK plugs and Accel wires. The fit on the plugs and cap is very good. The fit of the caps on the valve cover is ok but not as good as factory. I used them instead of new OEM wires because I wanted red wires , you know, for a really cool look!

I recall seeing a website where a guy(s) did some tests of various spark plug wires. The test included performance and fit. I can't recall the website but a search might help. It was pretty informative.

You can use the Bosch Platinum +4s They are a huge waste of money but they'll work as good as the .99 cent Autolites. I tried all the plugs when I worked for O'Reilly and the +4s aren't going to damage your engine. They weren't bad. But they certainly weren't worth the extra $3.50 a plug they cost. Splitfires on the other hand. I lost 10mpg and felt like someone had stuffed rags in my intake.

Unless a platinum or iridium plug is specified for your vehicle, just use regular NGK or Nippondenso plugs.

But if you are getting 31mpg in an Accord, you aren't doing too bad.
