V6 w/ automatic
Im new to the forum-but I searched throughout this site and I see that the v6 w/automatic transmission have problems. I purchased a used 01 with 8ok miles and it seems fine to me. I check the dealer and the records show it had never had the tranny replaced. It did show also that the tranny was servided around 47k. so I changed the oil (trans) last week. So my question is should I purchase the tranny cooler or just keep changing it every 15k like the service mgr in the dealer adviced me ?? I figure if its a bad design -then pretty much with a cooler or not it still going to burn it eventually. And I dont plan to heavily modifiy the car with engine mods.
You are not going to modify it, so just follow the service recommendations. It IS a honda afterall. I would not get the cooler, just change fluid every 10k.
It seems like the V6 transmissions that go bad do so very quickly. If your's has gone this far without any problems you are probably good to go. BUT, I would get a tranny cooler anyway. Better safe than sorry.

the cooler is def. something good to have even if you dont need it... its a auto! the cooler the better, it wont hurt having it 30% cooler or whatever specs they claim it drops to... for a 30-50$ item could have saved you 900-1500 worth of damages "if your tranny gives way".
