Default Can Decks Fry???

can decks fry? i put in alpine type s speakers the other day...n today when i went in car music played for like 3 minutes..then went out..nothin worked..then i smelled the deck fry...

check for shorted out speaker leads, most likly at speaker term. 94

update..i replaced the fuse..n now i plug deck in smoke comes out...i quickly unplugged it...i tried connecting an old deck and the deck turns on..but no sound...can all my wires me fried as well?

they might be, and they could also be wired wrong or something... Best Buy told me when you fry your deck theres a good chance your wires got messed up too.

So, I tried my old deck in my car, yes it powers up but there's no sound comming from it. My buddy came over and found that the fuse on the back of my fried deck was blown. He replaced the fuse and we plugged it into his car. It powers up but still no sound. Took my old deck and plugged it into his car. And the old deck powers up and has sound.

Problem: New deck powers up but no sound in either car.

Problem: Old deck powers up but no sound in MY car.

Problem: New deck, the heat sink on the back appears to get TOO hot my buddy
bunt his arm on the back of it so it's TOO HOT!!!

THERE IS A DEAD SHORT SOMEWHERE IN THE SPEAKER CHAIN
Check your speakers...they may be shorting out against metal.
And yes Virgina...the deck is dead

I would say yes...


the other day my buddy's deck LIT ON FIRE

there's now a hole in his dash

and a smoked HU


....it was sweet

Fear not though, that only happened on account of my buddy being an idiot in its best form
