Great ITR Deal: 98 ITR, 33K mi., $16K
For those of you searching for a used ITR:
I was surfing the net for used ITRs and came upon <www.abmotors.com>. They have a 98 ITR with ~33K miles for sale at $16K. The dealer is located in California, so that deal was out of the question for me (I live in Georgia) -- so I thought I should post this on H-T just in case anybody would be interested. The car is listed in the used inventory section of their website. Also, they have a 98 E36 M3 with very low miles (19K mi.) that is for sale at $23K.
Just wanted to give you guys a heads up. (Please don't blame me if something happens to be wrong with the car or if any mishaps should occur)

I live in the area and b4 i got my R i would stop by there once in a while cuz they had some nice cars. After going there a few times i figured out that the cars they sell are theft recoveries. The guy buys the car stripped..fixes it up again and sells them for cheap. I saw a 00 Si there once for sale for $9800....go figure. hopefully this R isnt a theft recovery...but i wouldnt count on it.....
i stopped by there too... all the cars are salvaged. for the R in the lot that u mentioned, it had a stolen engine. they replaced it with b18b block... i think... and they supposedly said they put type r pistons and camshafts in it... but i don't know... seems shady... but it's definitely a type r chassis
FYI, if you are looking in Atlanta area for a used R, they have (or had Sunday at least) a 00 PY one at Acura Carland in Duluth. Looked to be in good shape and had 19k I think.
Good luck

I would be VERY careful when buying an used ITR!!! I have heard of people with ITR's sell/trade parts like cams, sway bar, TB, and other parts that are not obvious with other teg owners before selling their ITR's. I would be VERY upset if I bought an ITR with GSR cams and TB for example. It happened to a friend of my brother's!!!!

Jetydosa: Thanks for the heads up. I'll definitely go check it out when I have the chance.
BTW: Were you one of the members of VTEC Atlanta at the meet in an Alpharetta parking lot (Media Play or Babies R' Us) a couple weeks ago?

That Fing sucks! Not only is it incredibly dishonest, it is destroying exactly what makes the car so special....grr. I think you just have to know what you are looking for, and also try and get a good feel for the type of person you are buying from. Usually, you can get a read on someone...ask questions that you know the answers to, and see if they tell you the truth. Talk to them about other stuff. If you don't feel comfortable about the person and what they are telling you, don't buy. We tend to ignore our instinct about others because we want to believe that they are good people...unfortunately some aren't. I got lucky when I bought my 98 used...guy was cool and straightforward about everything. He also stayed in touch and offered to help out with the car if I ever needed it etc. He just wanted me to enjoy it as much as he did. Any TRUE enthusiast will just want to sell you the car at a fair price, and see you enjoy it. Do be careful though, and trust your instinct.

The statement above also applies when buying from someone here in the Classifieds without references.
