Default Need help - removing factory deck '02 civic

I diconnected the battery last weekend in order to change out the starter. Now the radio doesn't work and is asking for a "CODE". I din't get a radio "code" when I bought the car from a private seller. the Honda Dealership wants $150 to removethe radio from the dash to retrieve the serial number of the back of the deck. Can anyone tell me how to remove the deck, or find the radio code somewhere in the car?

Thanks

two options:

1. call the dealer and give them your vin # so they can verify ownership and get the code for you. It should be a 4 digit code.

2. look in your owners manual/folder and it should be written down on a card or on the actual manual itself somewhere.

personally id go for option one and make those guys earn their pay at the dealership since they charge so much anyway.

I tried Option #1 - that was when they said they would have to pull the radio to verify the code. The dealership said that my name did not show up as the registered owner of the car, that is because I only bought it 3 months ago.

I looked in the owners manual and there is no card or code in there. the dealership said it would be a 5 digit code on a 'credit card' sized info card. I didn't get anything like that from the previous owner.

The dealership said that if I brought in the deck with the car, they would look up the code for free. otherwise the $150 was for shop time to remove it and reinstall it.
