my 89 exi 2 door has started to squeak in the front when i turn my wheels .It seems to be worst when the steering is in the middle position and i just barely turn the wheels from side to side . I greased everything visible and the noise is still there. It seems to be worst when i come back from a long ride. It sounds like dry rubber meeting metal...it's very anoying... squeak squeak squeak ...and it's driving me NUTS!!! Has anyone had this problem??

check your upper and lower ball joints...if you dont know how...try jacking up your car in the front by the lower control arms...take a long pry bar under the tire about 3/4 of the way up the pry bar and pull up and down...you will feel the movement if your ball joints are bad...if there is movement...replace the bad ball joints...uppers are easy...you'll have fun with the lowers though...

 

I changed the upper and lower (yes i had fun)ball joints about 3 month ago and there is no free play at all . The only free play i get is from the inner tie rod on the driver side. Will try to regrease everything later today cause this is driving me insane!!!!

 

You where right "drkshdw107" about checking the balljoints cause one of them where dry !!! No loose at all just no grease. At last no more squeak squeak squeak... Thanx for the tip
