Default 91 Accord Coolant leak from Transmisssion Cover plate

Am experiencing a slow loss of coolant around the black metal cover on the side of the transmission(automatic). The transmission was rebuilt about a year ago and this problem has just arisen(naturally after the warranty expired). I know that there are coolant lines going into and out of the transmission from the radiator. There is no mixture of coolant with the transmission fluid. One of the coolant lines, from the diagram in the shop manual, enters not far from this cover. It is difficult if not impossible to see with the shroud on(I haven't yet had time to remove the shroud) exactly where the coolant line enters in relation to the black metal cover. That is, I can't see exactly how far toward the bumper that the cover plate extends and the diagram doesn't clearly show it. Please help!!

i would advise you to pressure check the system to find out exactly where is leaking from that be the esiest way to find out where is leaking at.. good luck

Are you sure it's coolant? Those lines carry transmission fluid into the oil-cooler portion of the radiator.

I had a leak that appeared to be in the same spot...

in reality it was a heater hose that went from the firewall to the block (underneath the distributor) - kinda hard to see but the hose had a huge bubble in it

It was slowly leaking and looked as if it was coming from the transmission

the leak was actually on top of it but dripped down.....hope that helps

Coolant does not circulate within the transmission. If there is coolant on the transmission it is definately coming from somewhere above it,

You sure it's not power steering fluid going to the VSS? There are only 6 coolant lines in your car to check. Two are going from the radiator to the block. Look and feel both of those for leakage. Then check the two going from the block to the firewall. They are under the throttle body. Then there are two going to the throttle body itself. Check those too.

Crafty...thanks for the reply to my question....I'm not sure what I was thinking, but of course there is no coolant going to the transmission as others have pointed out. I guess it must be coming from above, though I can't check it until my son brings it home from LSU...it sure looked like it was coming from the transmission cover plate, and I felt certain it wasn't coming from above...however, I'm sure you must have it right...thanks to you and all the others who responded to my question...
