Default Weight Loss!!!

What is everyone doing to lose weight on the ITR? I'm trying to bring the weight down and am looking for some proven tips.

Take out the spare tire and jack
front and rear bumper supports
ABS
AC

that will lighten you up quite a bit, while costing you no money

now lightweight rims, suspension, and brakes, can take another nice chunk out of your weight, but cost a pretty penny

Rear Hatch Cover - 7lbs
Seat Bottom - 8 lbs
Rear Trim - 3 lbs
Left Trim - 7 lbs
Right Trim - 7 lbs
Seat Backs (and rear carpeting) - 14 lbs
Rear Floor Mats - 4 lbs
Rear wiper and motor ~ 3lbs
Spare Tire/Tools/Jack - 31 lbs

Stock hood is about 80 lbs. You could replace it with a carbon fibre one.
Stock exhaust and header could be replaced with a lighter aftermarket one.

If you want to go hardcore:

AC system weighs about 40 lbs.
Power steering system weighs about 20 lbs.
ABS. Lot of work to remove. Weight?
Passenger seat - 35 lbs.
Full tank of gas is ~80 lbs.
Airbags ~ 35 lbs.
Resonator - 5 lbs.

Rear wiper and motor= 9 lbs!

WHEELS are the best place to remove weight. 1 pound removed from the outer section of a wheel= 7 or 8 pounds removed from the car.

Actually, 1lb at the wheel = 4lbs from the car.

Actually, there is no general rule for this. It depends on the diameter of the wheel, the distribution of weight on the wheel, the tyre (is weighs quite a bit too), and a bunch of other factors.

It would have to be at least four, of course, because there are four wheels on a car. A recent article on Sports Compact Car did a rough-and-ready computation and came up with a number around eight for a particular car. However, there is no general way of doing this for all cars.

replaced the stock hood with cf hood. I don't think the stock hood was 80lb's though or I have gotten pretty strong

I'd like to do the AC and ps assembly.

keep those tips coming

how about buying a lightweight battery then relocating it to the trunk? You save a few pounds and get better weight distribution at the same time

Couldn't getting rid of the bumper supports be pretty dangerous as far as a daily driver is concerned. AC, PS, ABS, Spare tire and jack, and interior should be more than enough weight savings, and all free of cost.

Or you could just go buy a hybrid and use it as a track car. ;-)
