filter directly in the manifold?
hey just like the title says, has anyone tried clamping the filter directly into the intake manifold? theoretically it would work fine, even better than your normal sri. however, it would be drawing much warmer air right next to your motor. i was just wondering if anyone has done this and if so, how was it? thanks
I did that on my teg untill I hydrolocked it (dont ask lol) An SRI is better because the tubing allows for the air to gain speed and not be so turbulant as it goes in.
I did it a few times on my teg.
I see no point in it because for one, it will only make power in the high rpms which i'm limited. The sound might be better but otherwise, thats it.
Having a SRI is better than doing that.

That's not true....that's almost like supporting the claims of that "TORNADO" thing they sell on the Speed Channel. As soon as air hits the inside of the manifold, it's all turbulent again. There is no speed gained anywhere. Stock Hondas never have positive pressure in the intake, so there's no point in air going slow or fast.
To answer the original question, sure it can be done, but there will be no gains. It's pretty much exactly the same as having a short ram air intake. I'll be louder, but you'll just sound like a fast car going real slow.....kinda like a SRI, but worse. Heh.

not to mention you won't have any place to attach the valve cover breather tube, and if the car is N/A it runs better if it's attached properly (none of that stupid breather filter crap, which is only good for if you're forced induction).
