Default 'Excessive heat to catalytic convertor'

I am helping a friend overseas and he has a stupid red light on my dash that has a picture of a cat converter thats hot and this light never seems to go off. The book says 'Excessive heat to catalytic convertor' and it says replace cat. Well he don't want to do that nor can he find a sensor on how it knows that its too hot.

Any help is appreciated.

He has H22A3 engine... The sensor is in the cat cover. You can see "how-to-fix" below...

thats weird, plus i always thought cats work best at very hot temps, if its too hot for the cat, maybe there are some engine probs as well from high temps

They do - but if exhaust temps get too high it can melt the catalyst & really fuxor things up . . . . (like on a rotary engine)

If exhaust temps are that high on a Honda engine, it's probably indicative of other problems . . . .

Yes, it's absolutely true. BTW, I have these magic beans for sale. Real cheap...

No, there's no way that changing a catalytic will give you 15hp on anything w/ less than 2.3L displacement...unless you're running F-I.

If his cat is getting to hot it could be that he needs a new cat because his is clogged.
