BLock resurface on my ITR how do they do it is it needed
hi.. i just bought a 01' ITR block for my car that im going to pice together with the itr head i already have and lsd tranny. but before i do this. i needed to know how a block resurface is proformed.. do they have to disassemble the whole block or can they do it assembled? and how much does it usually cost around? please let me know if anyone has done this. thier is a tiny "divot" if you will on part of the head gasket surface area which kinda worries me enough to want the resurface since im going to be running a thin headgasket and high compression..
Motor must be apart for a resurfacing to be done. I would highly suggest step decking the block so a better seal can be made. They will leave about .004" of the bores sticking out compared to the block so it can "mash" between the gasket and herd. Should cost around $100.
100 doesnt sound to bad. would a machine shop be able to do a step deck also? thanls for the advice i want my ITR to kick as much *** possible.
and whats the difference between resurfacing and step decking im not to bright on machining tequniques.

i wouldnt step deck a block unless its boosted. in all motor configuration its pretty much worthless. if u have problems blowin head gaskets u have other problems besides needing a step decked block.
