Default How do you find your "D's" ... ?

Just wondering where you guys source your d16z6/y8's. Shops, Yards, friends ... ? What do you guys look for when looking at used engines? Any tips?

Thanks in Advance.

i've got a Y8 engine in my garage with 40k miles on it...along with 88dx cable tranny (clutch/PP) Only missing vtec solenoid and a sensor or 2 on the manifold.

Let me know i will let it go cheap i just swapped in a fully built y8!

Wow, that's cheap! You certainly can't find those sorts of deals in California. When I did my buddy's Z6 swap a couple of months ago, I could not find anything close to that. Swaps complete with transmission go for around $1300-$1400. And the best we could find was an incomplete longblock with no ECU for $600. I should also note that the motor was not in the best condition. Perhaps this is why Californians generally don't do D-series. B-series motors don't cost much more and represent a better bang for the buck here. For instance, I recently bought for $1000 a GSR motor that is in FAR better condition than my buddy's Z6.

if you can find a full z6/y8 COMPLETE head/block with all sensors/hoses unstripped for $100 then i would buy them all up and make some money reselling them! I'll buy another for $100 just to mess with! You're nuts!
