Why is selling my R so damn hard?
2 flakers so far, 1 from this forum. WTF.
One guy was from Cali, After I gave him my final price he wanted me to knock a grand off the price of the car because he had to drive so far out here with his GF and blah, blah, blah.
Local guy had to sell his RSX Type S to buy the R, had me hold off advertising it locally for two weeks while he tried to sell. Blew his engine with the ricer downshift going 85 on the highway, needed money to fix car, blah blah blah.
I'm only asking 13k for a 98 with 40600 miles. Its not a beater by any stretch of the imagination. I've driven it less than 100 miles this year, since getting my Syclone. As a matter of fact, last week I put 50 miles on her after pulling her out of the garage, cleaning off the dust and detailing.
Does everybody else have this problem or am I just unlucky?

might be the thought of it getting stolen scare most people away.
I think 13k is a good deal, I would have bought it if you are a local.

Thats the biggest reason. I know alot of people would gladly pay monthly on a loan for an ITR because of there love for hondas. But when you cant park it any where, it makes it useless.

yO.......i had no idea that you were trying to sell this! If it has a clean title i could potentially be a buyer
Edit: I just searched your name and this is the only thread you have evaR started....is the caR not for-sale in the classifieds?

I'm in the same boat. The final decision to get rid of my R was the insurance. Theft bothered me, but not enough to keep me from driving it anywhere and everywhere.

Hmmm...
If I were selling my ITR, I would post about it in the Classifieds forum on this site. Assuming I posted it with a reasonable price, I would expect a lot of contacts - some of them from tire-kickers and low-ballers, others from serious buyers.
As far as I can tell, it appears that you haven't posted about it in the Classifieds. If I were a prospective buyer, I would assume that you're not serious about selling it. Maybe that's why you're not hearing from prospective buyers.

Seems odd you are having trouble especially with that real low price and miles. I sold mine through the classifieds on this board within a month of posting it. It was a 98, excellent condition with 76k on the clock, i asked and received 14k.

I finally pay about $450.00 for 6 months through USAA. Was much more when I bought her. I guess being 32 helps as well
I know that I could get more than $13,000.00 but I just really want to get rid of her and make room in the garage for the Syclone.

People who flake and bail out at the last minute is all apart of the game. Money talks right? So until you get some kind of deposit from someone, I would take the offers you get for what they are worth...not much.
The guy with the girlfried who bitched about driving out there was being a *****. As some of you know, I flew 3800 miles to Georgia, picked up my R and drove it 3800 miles back. It's all apart of the game if you want one.
If your selling, list it everwhere you possibly can. Like mentioned above, take offers for what they are worth, until someone flashes the cash, then you can get serious.
I think 13K is a very good price. Good luck with the sale.

Will a bank give you a loan for a '98 car? I am paying for my 2000 s4 right now and am considering trading down for an ITR to lower my bills.
I agree that is a very good price and you shouldnt have any problem selling it.

the guy who was going to buy it locally had a pre-approved loan for 13k for the car and then he grenaded his engine. The more I think about it, it was probably best he didn't end up with my baby as he doesn't have the "mad VTAK skillz".

Your going to have to do your homework before the bank loans you anything. Someone can correct me on this, but I believe there is no official set value for these cars in the NADA or Kelly Blue Book. The market for these cars moves too much and its all a matter of the current "going rate".
Lets say your going to take out a loan on a 2000 ITR with 50,000 miles on it. The owner wants $20,000.00. The bank is going to do some half *** research on past sales and find that the market value for the same car is only worth $15,000.00. You will then have to prove the current rates to get the extra 5K. Banks always low ball when your buying private party. They also do this for used cars at dealerships.
I would suggest that you research other Type R's for sale in your area...state, region...whatever and print them all out. This way when you go see a loan officer he/she can't low ball you because you have proof of current private party and dealer values. If the loan officer doesn't give you what you want, your next option is to take out the additional money you need in the form of a 'consumer loan' to make up the difference.
Hope this helps.

When I purchased mine 2 years ago the bank had loan value at $16,000.
