Which ACT clutch would be best for my setup??
Hey guys, well at 52xxx miles the stock clutch has given up all hope i had in it
so it's time for a new setup. I am looking at either a stock Type R clutch and a lightened flywheel, or an ACT HDSS or XTSS clutch. My mods are currently just an AEM Cold Air but in a week my SMSP header and exhaust will come. I use the car for daily driving and mostly A LOT of highway driving. This s what I have heard, the pedal pressure of the HDSS is actually slightly heavier than stock. Perfect for daily use. While it might feel like stock, it is slightly stiffer and engages a bit lower. Would there be any advantages to going to the XTSS over the HTSS with my setup?? I've researched but I would just like some more input on the XTSS clutch, thanks fellaz

I decided that even after the lighter flywheel, I could still go lighter... and as for the HD vs XT... if you do some searching there's an odd noise that appears to be a result of the HD in the HDSS setup. I don't think it affects anything, but it gets annoying sometimes. Not everyone experiences it though...

Id personally go with the XTSS/8.8 setup from experience with my old gsr. It didn't feel that heavy and shifted much smoother throughout the gears just my 2 cents.
I have the XTSS and the Comptech Al FW for over a year, If I were to do it again I would get the HDSS- reason I don't have the modulation I would like to have in the XTSS for the track and the street. Basically I want a softer pedal with the grab of the XTSS.
Get the lightest FW you can afford. There is nothing negative about it.
Get a decent clutch but going all the way is not needed in a sub 200whp R.

Yeah the noise is kind of weird, it only happens when letting off the clutch and giving it too much throttle, its kind of like a howling sound. I had that setup on my stock B16 when I had my hatch and a friend with the same setup on a cable trans CRX experienced a similar sound. Never had any problems though.

Id stick with the HDSS unless you plan on getting real serious with the car.</TD></TR></TABLE>

Exactly what he said...Get the lightest FW you can afford. It's worth it in the long run bro.
