The main relay controls your fuel pump system, over time the solder on the main relay has broken down. When it gets hot the solder looses connection with the compoents inside and the fuel pump can't prime.
Your choices are changing out your relay for a newer/working condition one or ,if your skilled with a soldering iron, redoing the solder points on the main relay.

to test your main relay:
put key in ignition, turn key to on position, but not to start position. You should hear a humming sound from underneath the car. If you do not, your relay is on its way out. The relay will act up more during higher temps. It will also act up more after car is warmed up(temp again).
if you're ever stuck and want to get your car running when it won't start because of a relay that is going bad:
put key in ignition, turn key to on position, then turn it back until gauge lights on dash deilluminate, then back to on, then back and forth about 3 times a second for about 5 or 6 seconds. stop at on position(you may even be lucky enough to get the fuel pump to do a complete prime
) Then try to start car. Do this a couple times and the car will start. What your doing is jolting the relay into working(I think). I know it sounds retarded, but it works. Keep in mind IT IS NOT A FIX. When you do this your are wearing the **** out of your ignition switch. Trust me, I fucked mine up doing this very thing.
