VIR thanks & etc (long)
Okay, I got some sleep, now it's time for maD pRoPz to my pEepZ yO...
First of all, big thanks to Corey, Bryan, Morgan, Brian and Drew - without these guys working registration/tech/grid, the event could not have happened at all.
George- thanks again for putting the h-t group deal together. Because of you, we have created a whole new flock of track junkies.
Yack & friends- always a pleasure. Thanks for making the hotel parking lot scene more interesting, among other things.
Diane- as always, thanks for being a kick *** instructor as well as someone who's not afraid to give constructive criticism. That's what I need.
Other instructors like Money, Adam, Shugg, Todd Reid, etc- THANKS MUCH for your help, glad you got a lot of seat time and had fun.
MaddMatt- BIGBIGBIG THANKS for loaning me your car! It was sweet, although I was a truly slow driver in it (2:34's? Barf!) because I didn't want to ball it up. With any luck (and several thousand $$$) my car will be ready for February, so I can return the favor. BTW, you kick ***.
And all the new faces to h-t names (so many to remember)... THANKS to all of you for coming, and for making the event the success it was!
Innkeeper West Security Lady- thanks for not being too much of a pain about our parking lot spectacle. I know we aren't welcome back, but at least you didn't kick us out
As for other matters: first of all, the event was a financial success, which means Speedtrial will be trying for many more events in 2002. With any luck, we can get VIR a few more times, as well as some dates on the big track at Summit
Best part: we raised $760 for charity during touring laps!
PS- Who was driving the yellow JDM front end ITR w/ VA license plate "ITR 1007" or something similar, in the intermediate group? Just wanted to say "nice driving"... I was the guy in the red Sentra yesterday afternoon who couldn't stay in front of you without driving too hard in a borrowed car.
PPS- One of the most hilarious memories of the weekend was the two 17yo Danville girls in the Mustang, who kept coming back to the hotel parking lot to hang out with Ceas and his spiked dog collar. Particularly the one who wouldn't stop rubbing her *** against the Viper, and couldn't care less about the Lotus Esprit parked next to it. Apparently Danville girls only like muscle cars.
Thanks again all - this was truly a wonderful weekend. It is an honor and a pleasure to be able to make wonderful VIR memories with you all. You are all truly some of the damn finest humans I can think of.
Sincerely,
Jon

Oh yeah, ITR1007 lives near my parents house, I believe.. I think his name is Chris, although its been a long while since ive talked to him. Regardless, he was one of the fastest R's out there in the group.
ceas..
ceas..
Thanks to you for setting up the event. The crazyness is over.
The time at VIR was awsome! The weather held off to everyones delight!
I had two wonderful students who kept the tires on the pavement all weekend! YEA!
Hope to do it again soon!

Hell... Robert and I were just plain slack azzes... maybe a 12 pack between the 2 of us... that is not good at all.

-who wonders how much prison time he would have gotten if he was near the Danville ladies...

Jon... great event... we lucked out w/the weather bigtime.
Hopefully we can get some more VW's out there next run, but the gang that we came down with all agreed that it was well run and everything came off w/o a hitch... well I minus the poor guy in the intermediate group who got the second session red flagged.
Beginner group was the right place for me. Actually had a fair amount of open track for my 2nd/3rd runs. Felt like I was always passing someone.
Hope they decide to do one at Summitt also. Could get some more folks from over on VWVortex to come out and play.

Jon, remind me (and everyone else) who the folks were taking the digital pictures. By the end of Sunday remembering to stay on tha gas in the uphill esses drove everything else out of my mind.
hey ceas, are we ever gonna tell everyone what really happened in the Mustang? yeah those girls were pretty entertaining and they knew every soul in the town. Shame they didnt tell us their real names..( i believe they gave us five different names when we asked..sarah, wanda, ashley..etc and at different points in time they ranged from 15 to 17). they said they would be back in February with us, and ill finally have my car then also..cant wait...it was fun just watching (and napping), i can't imagine what its gonna be like whipping all you old guys up.

Jon, everyone,
thanks for the great time! I debated for weeks trying to decide if I should come to the event. I'm sure glad I did. Made some new friends and had My first and hopefully last "off" for at least a while. Thanks again
