Mugen Intake - wowee zowee...
...wowee zowee is this thing a pain in the butt to get in an AC equipped car
First off thanks to Justin (Ferrell) for his help on the install took us about 3.5 hours from start to finish. Also thanks to Curt941 for selling me the intake (great seller, definitely recommend) and thanks to Chris N and Type-R Yo! for their help/advice w/ the install.
Upon initial inspection this intake is top notch, the quality is amazing. It's so pretty I could almost justify buying on looks alone. Hopefully that won't have been the case though
I had read all of the threads about spreading your AC lines and "massaging" the intake into place and thought I was up to the task
This thing is completely huge, and really nearly impossible to get in between the lines. I ended up spreading the lines apart zip tying one to the ABS bracket and one to the header (zip ties were removed once the intake was in place). I also disconnected the radiator and fans and pushed them to the side a bit. There were several times I thought we were done and it wasn't going in buuuut we got it. Aside from the poor fit due to the AC lines there weren't really any troubles, the box sits snug against the coolant resevoir and I wasn't able to get one of the intake's mounting brackets bolted in. If your willing to spend more time moving lines around you could easily get things to fit "correctly". I did get the bracket on the filter connected but this intake is touching so many parts of the car I'm not too concerned about it moving around on me
I did get the mysterious plate installed where the resonator used to be above the intake's air horn (I guess that's what you'd call it). I suppose this plate is designed to direct air into the intake. I only drove the car about 10 miles to make sure everything was functioning correctly, I'll add a full driving impression tomorrow and I'll try to take a few more pics. For now here's some teasers, enjoy.

Wow, looks really good Chris. Sorry I wasn't able to help (I feel like I post this everytime you install something. My job sucks.) Maybe I could get off the list and see how it and the ats feel since I haven't driven your car in a few months....

I would also like to know. Look forward to hearing about your driving impressions. Thought about that intake but couldn't come up with the bucks.
<-------who rocks the J's and loves it.

The j's is a great intake but the mugen is noticable alot better. Suprisingly, the mugen intake has better throttle response than even the j's due to the j's sucking up a lot of warm air most of the time. The most impressive part of the mugen intake its torquey feel.

John I don't think you'll ever be off the list.
Looks great chris. I'll have to test it out for myself before I can really say
Tomorrow maybe.
If you really wanted to install something as expensive and blingy as that, you should've just pounded on it with a hammer (and chisle).

It really is a pain in the *** to install on an A/C equipped car, I know cause i did the same install last year. But quality and function is totally worth the $$ and the hassle of installing IMHO. And the whistling sound is cool too

Welcome to the M.I. club.
you can actually turn the open end forward.
at the track I remove my right front turn signal and get a nice ram - air effect.
