Default installed head w/o dowel pins (woops)

After having an oil leak at the headgasket for so long, I decided to finally take a day off and take off my head. When i took it off, my friend was like "uhh.. how come ur head slides?, do u not have dowel pins?" and im like, uhh i dont remmeber any dowels pins being put in"

long story short, i realize i threw away the dowel pins the last time I had my head off, becuase the didnt look like anything important. (the machine shop took out the dowel pins, and put them into a little baggie w/ a bunch of other stuff from the head) so i though o maybe its jus junk and i threw it away.

so yea, anyways, i put my head back together w/o dowel pins, jus the head bolts lining everything up. needless to say, i fukked up. the head gasket was like 2-3mm out of alignment and it left those nice rings seeen in the pics below. Im thinkin that is also the cause of my head gasket leak.

When i did my compression test with the head gakset like that, i had about 170-180 on the cylinders. i assumed my motor was really weak, and old. would it make sense for the compression numbers to be low due to the head gasket like this?

Yes, it's probably because of the headgasket sliding around.

Get those dowel pins back in bish!

YES!

Get some compressed air or something and blow it out, or if you have the head out you can use a something else to scrape it all out. You don't want that junk falling into your combustion chamber!
