Im interested to know what you think of your paint job?
This thread is for those R owners who have repainted their R ORIGINAL color because the original paintjob was damaged in some way. I am especially interested in those of you who had your R sprayed PY again. Are you satisfied with the color match? How much did it cost? Any problems of anykind involving the respray? Any regrets? Any advice? Pictures would be awsome. Thanks guys!
If you are spraying the whole car, then there is no "matching" to do, it will all be the same color. However, any competent body shop can match your paint though if you just need a few spots done.
What I meant by "matching" was...how close to your original body color was the respray? Not even noticable or slightly "off."

I think "competant" body shop is the real point here. I have seen no less than a dozen PY's that had some sort of body/paint work and almost all of them had poor to crappy matching and some of them were even done by dealership paint/body shops.
When I bought my PY R it had a small blemish on the rear bumper from unloading from the transport truck during shipping. The dealership fixed it using a private body/paint guy that they farm out to for perfect work. It got done in 4 days and in Any light you couldn't tell there were any marks or where they blended the paint and whatnot. It was absolutely perfect.
But my car was an exception as I mentioned above.
The Black and White R's seem easier to match and or get correct when using a mediocre shop.
I also had minor work done on my Black R by an Excellent shop that does alot of restorations and whatnot with a great reference list. He did the work in 3 days and again you couldn't tell there was ever anything that happened.
A total respray won't be cheap and and although you won't notice anything on the outside, if done cheaply or poorly or without good matching you'll notice quite alot when you look in the door jambs, under the hood and whatnot.
Do it right the first time and don't cheap out. You get what you pay for.

I somewhat disagree. I went to a very compentant shop and today the dealership told me my paint looks like crap and they would only give me $10K for my car.

Yeah, **** can happen I guess but, What do You think of the paint job?
Especially Not what the dealer thinks since they'll try to lowball you for any given reason. If you're concerned about your new paint I'd take it to Another good shop and ask them their opinion.
I've had several cars reprayed, painted and more than a few shops do body work as well. Quality can certainly vary but for certain I'd not take a dealers opinion unless you're inclined to agree.
And nothin for nothin but the OEM paint job pretty much sucks *** anyway, chips off when a rose petal floats over it.

I have only had the rear bumper repainted so far and the color is right where the old bumper was, Slightly off also just like the front bunper which is original.
I hope the day never come to put paint on my car, I know way too much about paint and therefor I would never be happy with any re-paint.

Are you referring to any paint that was not originally applied to the car during manufacture, not matter how high the quality of the paint is?

How could you misconstrue what you quoted me as posting?
OEM = original equipment manufacturer
Guess I shoulda just said "stock" or "original"?
I've had No issues with repaints as per wear or premature wear. In common English The Paint that comes on the car from the Factory Sucks *****. It chips easily and some PY owners have even complained of fade.

exactly, I should have mentioned that as well, the shop my family uses focuses on restorations (porsches, bmw's, vw's) and they are expensive but perfect. It's been my experience that shops that focus mainly on restorations give the best paint jobs because they employ the best people. They cost a hell of a lot more but if your car means something to you, you'd be crazy to go anywhere else.
