Default Hesitation stumbling '92 accord ex

My accord is 100% stock... at least right now... Lately when I accelerate there is a noticeable pause, hesitation in first and second gears between 1500 and 3000 RPM. It only happens once or twice once I take off from stop, but it happens pretty much each time I accerlate from a stop. Temperature does not seem to affect the problem, it happens whether it's hot or cold. Recently it has almost felt like the engine has died completly for a split second and then goes on normally. When it happens the car lunges forward on the shocks and has no power for that split second. Also my gas mileage has been getting worse as of late. I read somewhere that the o2 sensor might have something to do with it.... any thoughts on that? The car has 174K on it and runs great with this exception. Also if I lug the engine, like third gear going uphill slowly, I notice a missing sensation...although I think I need to clear the EGR ports to fix this.... Any thoughts would be helpful..

Known issue with 90-93 Accords. EGR ports clog so that one or two cylinders do not get EGR flow, and the ones that do misfire. Clear out the EGR passages in the IM and then see how well the car runs.

Yeah, I definitley think that EGR is one of the problems. However, the hesitation happens wehter the car is hot or cold; the EGR should only open when the car is at operating temp and above a certain RPM. So I'm stumped. I will clean the EGR ports and see if that helps.... Any other Ideas?

The other thing to check is your ignition system-plugs, wires, cap and rotor.
