Default exhaust question?

am i losing any power or torque by having a test pipe instead of a high flow cat? a couple of people have told me that but i think they are bullshitn, but on the other hand it takes alot of rpms to go from stop to a decent speed, but once i get there it is smooth, does anybody think that a high flow cat is better than straight through? thanks

My test pipe on my accord works great. A little on the loud side, but worth the extra boost.

Im not a fan of high flow cats.

I dont know. I heard they give you higher top end but les low end torgue due to lack of back pressure. Whats the diameter of your exhaust. If you are running force induction this shouldnt be a problem. It doesnt sound like nothing to big in your case, but if there was a big difference in low end torgue then you could always use a smaller diameter or turbo charge your engine.

**** man id love to turbo my engine but personaly i think its a weak peice of crap! i guess id have to swap to a h22 first, not enough dough right now but its all in the future. honestly it does feel too weak on my low rpms! my exhaust is 2.5, and no forced air induction, just a aem cai, i honestly don't know what to do, maybe id be better off with a high flow cat until i put some serious work in on the engine, i'm thinking of buying a nos kit for now, but i don't know **** about instalation, or any things that i need to be aware of while driving with nos, i guess a test pipe would probably do me justice if i had at least nos. what do you think?

My car was much better with the test pipe/ high-flow cat. I had performance that I can feel. The only problem is that after I installed it I can really smell the smoke because its not converting the exhaust hehehe. Im gonna just try 4-2-1 manifold and magnaflow. I don't care about piping size, Im not into racing anyways...just sqeezing out a little performance.

you guys cant feel a **** of a difference between stock, high flow, and test pipe.....thats simply ridiculous......if youve got a good header w/ a learger than stock collector and a 2.5"+ catback, then it makes a difference....and for the record, the collectors on the Greddy and DC headers are not larger than diameter.....how else would they bolt up to a stock cat???

oem is fine unless your boosted or making serious power...the difference is soo minimal

I defintitely feel the difference with the test pipe, in a good way. however my question was am i losing power with it instead of a high flow cat, i can raise my rpms quicker with it but it still feels slow off the line. so which is better over all, how much difference is there between a test pipe and high flow cat?
my car is a 99 ex 4dr 4cyl 2.3l ulevtec

if you like the feel of the difference with the test pipe...then keep it. why change it and quite possibly waste money on something you didnt need in the first place... seems illogical to me

With my Greddy Evo... yes it's loud But only if I get on it. Otherwise it's just deep and bassy. But I also have a 4-1 header.... at WOT you can hear me all the way down the street.

FYI - greddy's rasp with the deletion of your cat. I would suggest a resonator or 2 to get rid of the "pissed off bumble bee" sound.

The collector on a DC sport header is only OE diameter?
On my '92 LX I think that must be only 1.75". Would it be a good idea to cut the collector off and weld on a bigger pipe to match the rest of your piping, (i.e. 2.25")?
