Minor Exhuast Upgrade (kteller + magnaflow) 56k = bad idea
After going through two of these, a sheared middle pipe and constant problems of having the exhuast hanger come loose, I decided it was time for an upgrade.

yes, it exploded. less then a year old too.

I ran out of argon... . DOH! so I will be doing the last two joints again and trimming one of the pipes to tuck it up a little better.

The welds with argon look a whole lot better then the ONE that you can see.

my 1 7/8 to 3 inch adapter . .. LOL now I've got to build an engine to make full use of the exhuast!

The one real disapointment I had with the K Teller system is that even though it was mandrel bent, one of the bends had some large ripples. . .
all in all the magnaflow is a great improvement on the old system which was just a resonator and a flexpipe out the side. At 50mph there's viturally no cabin noise, at 70mph 3k RPM, it gets pretty noisey though.

Nice work man, especially the stock to 3" adaptor. That is just a great, it reminds me of one of those little ***** in a cup
How much did that all cost?
How much did that all cost?
Talk about a bottleneck
Is that part of the old resonator you used for that adapter? haha
anyways, looks good. Go build a motor for it now!

YUP! Will do.
I went 3 inch because I plan to make some horsepower with a turbo.

perfect it should fit in the passenger side in place of my round one (NEED MORE SOUND DAMPING!!)

Mike's system is a slip-on, you could get away with clamps alone.

The benefit for me was I saved about a hundred bucks over off the shelf. I also wanted something that was 3 inch from the manifold all the way back which is tough to find. I also didn't want to touch the exhuast for a long time so I tried to buy all 304 stainless stuff.(unfortunately the flanges and hangers are mild!)
I had heard some bad things about Thermal recently. I heard nothing almost all praise for KTeller. I have to say those ripples are lame though.
So that's why I did what I did.
It is NOT oem loudness.
If you want something quiet, you really shouldn't look at straight thru mufflers. Something chambered might work nice. I had looked at some flowmasters before buying the magnaflow but couldn't find an alloy that I wanted. You might want to check their stuff out. You'll want to do a resonator also. A cat helps quiet things down a lot too. TONS of options out there.

I'd wager a hundred or two. Most shops wont tig your exhaust though. You'll most likely end up with mig or stick welds.

thanks alot for the info..
i liek the idea of the exhaust and the look...
is the flex pipe necessary? or could i go header>test pipe>cat(testpipe) back exhaust?

For me the flexpipe is necessary. I think the problems I had with the car were due to the kid that had the car before me taking it to midas and having them hack the stock flexpipe off.

If you go with the stainless exhaust from kteller does it have to be tig'd? Is it okay for a meineke shop to just mig it like any other mild steel exhaust?

$420? damm thats kinda of expensive
you should of bought a full exhaust system, that doesnt look clean at all. thats jus my opinion, do what you gotta do

Nope it can me migged.
Just wondering, why the clamp and the weld then ? I'm gonna start making exhaust setups and just wanted to know

Nothing's wrong with mig welding, just make sure they use the right spool. Let the shop know you have 304 stainless pipe and want stainless fill I might even find what welder they use and buy the appropriate filler metal, but I'm slightly nuts.
Another approach would be not to care about the welds and save a couple bucks and buy the mild system and a bottle of rattlecan and paint it after it's welded to prevent rust.
