heres the deal, one day last week i go to drive to work and my car seemed to be missfiring in the low rpm but once i got up in the 6 k range it was fine. this was only on acceleration. so then after work i go to start my car and it dosent start. i troubleshot for about 2 hours when it mysteriously just started, and ran fine with the exception of the acceleration lag. about 10 minutes later it dies at a light and hasnt started since. i know im getting both spark and fuel because i pulled out my fuel pump and tested it, which came out positive, and replaced the main relay with a new one. also replaced the ignition coil. i have no idea what it is. the started cranks strong but the car dosent start. please help.

 

No CEL? If you have spark/gas/air there are only a few reasons left. It cranks but wont fire? Did you check your T-Belt and cam alignment? - Darrell

 

Just a quick idea, this happened to my friend, check the rotor screw in your ditributor, his poped out at traffic light and it wouldn't start and we didn't even know it. good luck

 

its a jdm d15b, i got it 20 thousand miles ago at which time i replaced the timing belt and timed the car, so i ruled that out. i know, it dosent make any sense. but thanks for the help.

Like the other guy said, check the rotor in the distributor. Also, did you check to see if the ignitor was still good? Even if the coil is good, the ignitor could be causing the no start situation you have.

 

hey i had the same problems, my car would cut out or die at a light out of nowhere, it would idle perfect and then just instantly shut off, it was the dizzy, i got one from distributor king and it runs perfect now...just an idea but check the dizzy for sure
