Default d16 cam

Am i better off putting my old d15b2 head back on with the d16 cam. Or just keep the d16(non vtec) head? Can i expect any power gains?

Reason why i ask about the d16 cam is becuase i read that the d15 and d16(non vtec) heads are the same, execpt that the d16 has a "wilder" cam. is this true?

Yup cam is different, but if you have the original valvetrain, the SI springs and all will be stiffer. Also, to put in the A6 cam you will need the cam gear, preferably adjustable due to a difference in overall height I hear.

if its the y7 head and you use a y8 headgasket you should see around 10.1:1 compression and get a little hp from the motor

Wait, I don't even think an A6 cam would fit in a Y7 head.

well if thats the case ill use the whole head. Now, im not familiar with the y7 y8 terminology, all i know is that the head came off a 98 non vtec civic. What year and type are the y7 and y8? And how can i tell by looking at my head what kind I have?

If it came off a 98 Non-VTEC, then it is a Y7. A Y8 is the 96-2000 EX
