I need to find out what main bearings I need? I took the rods and piston out of the car while the block is still in the car, i don't see any numbers on the bottom of the block, and all the markings are the same on the rods and rod caps. also on the old bearings theres a green paint on all the bearings, is that the color I need? thanks for the help
Yes, if your bearings had a dab of green paint on them, then you need to replace them with green bearings. Plastigage them when you put the new ones in to make sure they're still in spec, though.
here is a ? that is a bit off the topic.
i was wondering if any of you have found that not removing the crank and having it rebalanced has led to very quickly failing main bearings? see on 2 other cars i have done this on in the past, the cranks were not taken out (nissan, toyota) but the bearings were replaced. on the toyota it got about 100 miles down the road and the crank (my guess) rounded that particular bearing (#3 i think) back out of shape. the nissan got a little farther.. but still
basically are honda cranks so much stronger, that they do not need to be pulled knifed and balanced?
ive done 1 in rebuild on a older accord replacing the rings and bearings... the car was sold about 3 months later so i never found out if it had the old crank/new bearing issues.

I'm not sure about the letter code for green, but I wanna say it's 3.
And rebalancing the bottom end, IF DONE BY A COMPETANT SHOP, should lengthen the lifespan of the bearings and motor.
If you were eating bearings that quickly, then you had something else wrong......and you don't want to knife-edge the crank; that will reduce the life of the bearings just by itself.
I had my bottom end balanced and I've got about 5.5k miles on it so far, no problems yet.
