Default Replacing Steering Wheel

How do you replace the steering wheel on a '90 STD hatchback? Any great detail would be greatly appreciated.

Get a small flat-head screwdriver (or pry) and pop off the center H logo (the whole sqaure). When that's off you can see the bolt that holds on the steering wheel. Use a socket wrench (forgot what size) and take that off. Slide the wheel off of the splines and call it a day!

Decievingly simple

I think it's a 19mm, but I could be completely off. I haven't taken my wheel off in awhile

No, the horn works. I just would like to replace my steering wheel. I just wasn't sure if the horn had to be disconnected or whatever. Just unbolt, replace andf rebolt steering wheel - you don't have to mess with any wires?

Yea just pry off the H logo and you should see either a 17mm bolt or a 19mm bolt down there. I took off my crx wheel and replaced it with a DA wheel and I went to change my wiper, light control and that ****** was locked on there. I dunno how to get my wheel off now; i couldnt break the bolt loose......I guess i didnt know my own strengh the first time around...

19mm wrench; the horn is just a little clip, unclip it after you pull the wheel and your free to go.

I put it dead center and do my best to hold the wheel with my legs.
Smack the wrench with a hammer so it will give some impact to break the nut looser easier.
I have set the wheel to lock before, but it's not a good idea. You could damage the lock mechanism.

Also, BEFORE you take the wheel off, set the wheel so it's perfectly centered. Then take a marker or something and put a vertical line to the top of the steering column splines. This way you can turn the column or whatever and you will know where UP is.

yeah defitnitely dont put all that pressure on the lock mechanism it will give way and break. just do your best to hold on to it with your legs or have a friend lend a helping hand

should be a 19mm bolt and then if you still want to hook up your horn there is a place to re clip it to on the hubs

I don't know about pulling wheels with with airbags like on your 240sx, but we don't have airbags So our lives are much easier.
