Gunk on the rims will not come off!
I have tried using goo gone, goo gone 2, break clean and hogwash carb cleaner, nothing seems to take this yellowish/blackish adhesive/gunk off the rims, in certain places I can see the finish behind the gunk... Attached are a couple pics

Geez, where do you live?
My guess is Simple Green, its powerful, and 3 bucks. If ALL else fails, be cautions, try airplane stripper, its a super powerful cleaner, more than a degreaser.

for a minute there i thought this was the best macro picture thread...
those rims look like hell.. goto a autoparts store and ask for the stripper. Thats where i got my stripper, she worked wonders.

Are you sure that's not pitting / corrosion? I can't tell because the pics are so big.
Did you try bleech white wheel cleaner? It works as good as break cleaner, but less harsh. Let that **** sit on for a looong time before scraping / washing off. The aircraft stripper will take the finish / clearcoat off of your rims though, so you may want that to be a last resort.

try some rubbing alcohol or maybe a 50/50 hydrogen peroxide and bleach combination. I can't tell by the pics but it almost looks like some of your finish has been eaten away.
yeah.. but before you spray that on the wheel.. take the wheel off the car first.. otherwise you're risking your fender and quarterpanel's to get a good "strip-tease" too..
