I am from the school of thought that a JDM part is generally going to be of better quality than American parts. For example, if I were to buy a JDM exhaust system, there would be a larger power increase and better overall workmanship. The American systems, while not 'poor' per se, are poorer than the parts made in the land where these cars originated.

Take even for example any discount parts distributor. Not one of the bargain barrels, but a real company with satisfied customers. While the customers might not buy the JDM due to the increased cost, they might have considered them if they were cheaper. Many suppliers that don't have JDM parts don't have as many satisfied customers. JDM parts should be sold freely in America compared to the American DM ones. It's a shame that the parts companies are selling lower quality parts than are possible.
