If your one of the few unlucky ones to own a 92-95 dx without a tilt wheel you know exactly how crappy it feels to not beable to tilt your wheel up and down. Well Ive found an inexpensive and rather easy way to do this.

Wile completely revamping my car, geeky gambit and I figured out a way to lower the steering column by using washers between the two bolts holding up the steering column.

Once you remove the plastic cover to your steering column, you'll see the 2 12mm nuts threaded over long threaded bolts. Remove those 2 nuts and slide the steering column all the way off. (Being carefull not to strip the bolts)

Now with the column hanging off the two bolts slide a few washers up the two bolts. Once there up check to see if the steering column is at a favorable spot for yourself. Make sure not to go to low, because you still want plenty of thread left to hold onto your steering column. Once your done slide the column back up, replace the 2 12mm nuts and tighten them both. Replace your plastic column cover, and valaaah... lowered steering column.

 

um yea.... but it works..... or something....
but its a very easy DIY if you need your steering wheel lower

i think the tilt angle is perfect in my CX. i just wish it would telescope in a tad. gonna tray a momo with a shorty hub...

i've heard of ppl successfully swapping in full tilt columns

Yup, very straight forward. I used an eg6 tilt column, had some issues with the switches bolting on, still a bit tilted, but I've got tilt. Don't forget to get a tilt wheel column cover.

can you raise the wheel with this method or can you just lower it?

it won't help you if your wheel is too low....only if it sits too high

 

my CX doesn't have tilt but my steering wheel sits in a pretty good position for me and I'm 6'

 

is there anyway to be able to raise it up?
