Default You know what sucks? WRECKING!

So....doin a little driving with a buddy cause I was relaxing, my gf had really pissed me off...I told him b/f we started I WAS NOT gonna go fast...told him go ahead but im just gonna cool out...around this time its getting dark...im goin slow around these turns, my friend is about an 1/8th mile ahead...I see him go around a hairpin HARD...so I take it, and what do I see, him almost out of a 180! Hit the brakes a little bit (oops, no abs)...I was going about 30 when this happened....countersteer a little bit, enough to land me smack dab into a wooden gaurdrail...I hit it going maybe 5 to 10...i had my seatbelt on (always do), airbags didnt go off...i have witnesses saying how he flew through the turn (he is really inexperienced)...anyways.....im shook up, this was only about an hour and a half ago...
Heres the aftermath:
Before:

After:

Im still in shock....
EDIT...see the big dents in the metal fender? Ya, my dad is against me on everything, accused me of STREET RACING (I never street race damn it) and i got a little mad. O well, already beyond repair.

That sucks, but the damage doesnt look to much.

Why does your engine look like it has a stock header yet you have a intercooler..... engine shots?

On a del sol, this is about $2500 worth of damage, if you include stuff like repainting the hood and color blending the door with the bumper and fender you will be replacing.

It's a turbo manifold.. look closer. The no a/c also gives hints of a turbo...

Don't know if this is appropriate, but the first pic, CLEAN *** del sol, probably one of the best ive seen. Hehe, intercooler hangs below the bumper. You know, theres a dude in atlanta that would do my whole car for 900$, maybe you could look into doin the whole car. Yes, people say its been in a wreck, but barring selling it, itd be like not much more to do a badass paint job. the guy i talked to said itd be 450$ to fix my door, 200 to redo the skin, and bout 250 to color match, wetsand, redo the whole door to look like it had never been done berfore.
Or...this is next summer...200 to fix the door, 900 for the whole car, wet sanded, with 2 clearcoats. Look around, and don't blow cash on paint, sides, red is a bitch, im sure you can attest, most del sol's now are pink.
But, I'm glad your ok, Hope the frame don't cost too much. Go to junkyards for sheet metal, hood, and ****. Get cheap ones that have **** paint, then do the whole car at once. you know resprays are like...back is dull, front is shiny.

Yes, it is pure physics. That's why it's not "guaranteed". When you lift or brake when cornering, the weight transfers (and the amount varies from car to car depending on chassis - there are some cars that even the best stunt drivers have great difficulty getting to rotate freely). If the speed and weight transfer causes the rear tires to lose traction enough they can't hold lateral grip, then you will be in an oversteering spin. If this occurs near the limit of adhesion, then yes, I agree it will have a VERY HIGH likelyhoold of spinning the car, however, if it occurs at a very slow speed, the rear tires should have enough "stick" to maintain lateral grip (but if oil, water, or antifreeze are involved, this is a mitigating factor, of course).

But, all these new "dynamic stability" programs and ABS programs can work near magic on a car near the handling limits (but of course, as you point out, when physics dictate - the die is cast, and recovery may not be possible).

The ITR had a WAY too big rear antisway for a lot of people who bought them - I'll agree on that. That is the easiest way to make the Civc/Integra chassis have the most neutral handling, but there could have been some ways that would have made it less "tail-happy".

yup.. that's how i fucked my ek up too. mid corner after an s-turn into a hard right... rear-end swung out.. counter-steer, throttle lift, tap the brake, wooomp, hit the curb.. driver's side fender crushed.. luckily i didn't bend a wheel.. popped the tire though.. heheh.. Tokico Illumina's = 5, Progress 23mm rear bar, rear upper strut bar, short wheel base = ***-happy ek..
