Default Trouble!!!!

My 91 Accord has been acting up. Once every few months it just will not start. I then get it towed and then once it gets home it just starts again. This time it has been 4 days it will not start or react to a jump. I think it may be the distributor but I'm not sure. What else could it be? And how hard is it to replace the distributor??

More info might help. What happens when you turn the key in the ignition? Click, click, nothing...?

check the plugs? maybe your wires need to be replaced... distributor could be the problem. check for spark.

I checked for spark last night....nothing. And I just replced the spark plugs about a month ago. How hard do you think changing out the distributor will be?

A distributor is not bad at all. But see if you can't replace just the cap or something first. Maybe it's got a crack or something and is grounding out. I always say replace the cheap stuff first and then if it still doesn't work . . . rig it! Or buy the expensive part, whatever.

check for distributor seal leaks, look underneath distributor housing. if it is, oil got inside ignition compoments. you need new dist.

I've had two honda's where after work they would not start for about 1/2 hour. This usually happened when the weather was hot. I'd get out to the car, open the windows, pop the hood and try to figure out why it wouldn't start. Called the tow truck and when they came it started right up. This problem has only happened on our older hondas. Someone told me that Honda has a part called a starter relay. It is located somewhere under the steering column. On two accords this was the problem. Its a suggestion for something to check.

4th gen accords are notorious for main relays going bad... so thats def something to check out

It COULD be the ditributor, or a part of it anyway. The distribitor on my 91 was trash. And Honda dizzys are not known for their longevity. If it's the original part and not causing your current problem it will act up sometime. I got a good deal on mine at http://www.importperformanceparts.net
Good luck.
