I searched and found 10 other old threads with the same kind of title but not for coupe love.
Looking for you guys to post up your weight for your EK (1996-2000) Coupes. I'm horribly @ 2570, but i plan on eventually stripping completely and I wanted to see what the possibilities are. Also, please post what trim you have. I have an EX w/ an h22 swap.

Actually, (not to say that this is by any way accurate) but autotrader says that the DX is the lightest at 2262 with the HX at 2313. -These are 96 specs-
the dx is the lighter version when compared to the hx. But as far as a power to weight ratio the hx is alot better. Overall the hx is a better buy and all in every aspect.

I doubt that. The POS d16y5 or whatever is as good as any SOHC 1.6 with "VTEC" - since you're swapping the motor anyways, why not just go with a DX saving the weight AND the extra money you paid for BS fuel economy ****.
Granted, it's prewired for VTEC

Probably because the y5 isnt any POS. It's an exceptional motor and you sir are a tard. Just because he's swapping the motor doesnt mean he doesnt want power windows etc. It's only like 40 some odd pounds jack-***.

Why don't you both shut up. I don't need you girls kissing in my thread. I don't care what the lightest factory coupe is, i'm looking for stripped, swapped, street, or full race coupes.
Are you familiar with that motor? Its mechanics and function? Do you realize that power is the last thing coming out of that motor? Stock for stock, it should be ahead of a DX, but who's motor is a stock SOHC nowadays? But yes, I'm a tard, and paying extra for a POS engine that is going to get tossed either way is a GREAT deal because you get power windows. Oh noes!
If you want power windows, why not go with the EX and get even more comfort creatures since power windows are so damn important here... in a thread discussing weight reduction of all!!
Sure, you gain extra weight, but you also get painted mouldings and mirrors yo! At least you have a somewhat decent basis for a singlecam buildup...

I didnt say you would be buying the car for its power windows moron, I said that who cares about an extra 40 or so pounds? Yes, I am actually pretty familiar with its internals and if you knew anything you would know that the y5 is just as capable of making power as the trash y7. Not to mention the smoother valvetrain ie: roller rockers and better gas milege. Take your biased comments and bullshit theorys elsewhere.

Fact:
The D16Y5 is capable of dynoing the same or even more whp than a D16Y8.
There was a topic where a guy and his pal took an HX and an EX to the dyno and the HX actually outpowered the EX engine with like 120whp or something like that, but I cannot find the topic.
The HX ENGINE is actually pretty bad-*** with roller followers for the cam and all, but it has a shitty tranny with shitty gears so that's why they are slower by far.
Please don't come in here lying your *** off to try and sound knowledgable.

BTW:
I'd take an HX all day over the Ex because the EX has the heavy-*** moonroof that adds weight up top, which is terrible for handling.
Also the Y5 is a great basis for SOHC power. Throw in the Y8 manifold and some higher Cr pistons from say, the 86-87 Integra (not the 88-89 because the CR would be way high for pump gas on cast pistons) and ditch the EGR **** and add an EX tranny and you're good to go.

When I had my HX semistripped it was at 2150 with a full tank of gas. Semistripped is no rear seat or rear panels. No audio, or enviroment controls.
Now I have no panels, no tar, no dash, no a/c, no p/s, and lexan quarter windows. Hopefully I'll have a chance to weigh it soon, but no promises. I'd imagine I'm just over 2g's.
Oh, and anyone that thinks the HX engine sucks can shampoo my crotch at the next autox

I want to swap a d16y5 into my CX at some point just for ***** and giggles. How great would it be to gain 45 hp along with improving the already killer 40mpg?!
This car is my daily driver, so I could care less about being able to enter it in the Honda Challenge. I think it would be interesting to get close-to Prius mileage along w/ similar (if not better) performance for next-to no $$$.
