Problems accelerating -> Car dying : help!
Hope this is in the right thread but yeah. I recently purchased a 99 ITR with approximately 100,000 kms. When i first test drove it it was fine, accelerated beautifully. Now after the 3rd day owning the car, whenever i give'r in it, it doesnt accelerate smooth. It feels like it is chugging to make its way up. And now after doing so, the car just dies on me. Also, if i try to start it up again, the motor will turn over, but it wont start, unless i wait a while. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I'm going to be doing all the basic tune ups this weekend (New Battery, Spark Plugs, Oil Change, etc, anything i missed?)
check the cap and rotor also see if there are any engine codes. Maybe try to contact the previous owner and ask if he had any similar problems. of course hes going to say NO but you never know. maybe he might give you little clues!
check to see if you have an aftermarket fuel pressure regulator or fuel pressure optimizer. i've had similar problems to what you're describing and its because the diaphram in the fpr kept blowing out and was spitting out tons of fuel.
