i believe the only thing that would prevent a R motor seeing that age is theft or the car being totalled.
there is no doubt in my mind that the R motor is any different in terms of reliability compared to other honda motors.

I had to take a picture of my 1995 GSR for everyone. This is the actual milage as of 09/16/2004. Please note, the car still brakes evenly, still pulls hard, VTEC still kicks in when it's supposed to, doesn't burn or leak any oil, and holds all the fluids where it's supposed to. Take your pick, want to eat off the engine bay or the interior? They are both very clean. High miles is possible with tender loving care.

**Note: pictures were taken at midnight. sorry for shitty lighting.**

I bought the R 7 months ago w/ 23.5K k's and we put about 2300 k's a month on it. So by the time I sell it in a little under 4 years it'll have about 87,000 miles on it. Then I'll have to buy another when I get back.
For those who are keeping theirs when the engine gives up it will be a perfect opportunity to mod!

Its actually built a lot stronger than most honda engines. Getting the same moly piston treatment NSXs do, and getting oil injectors or whatever you call them, and the oil cooler...

~113,000 miles before buying a beater to drive in the crap...
Now 118,000 miles & still original oem block, head. That comes with ~15 HPDE's including several open track days with the Porsche club (that'll add ~3-4 hrs of track time...oftern 1 hr at a time).
honda rocks. PERIOD.
Ed & sgT are both at or above this range.

My '96 GSR has 173K miles on it. Still runs well. It does burn about a 1/2 qt of oil every 1200 miles or so (started around 90K). No real problems with the car other than normal maint items.
The car has been street parked its whole life as well which means lots of Chicago winters (salt).
