What do you plan on welding. 90 amps isn't much good for anything over exhaust tubimg. Where do you find service for that machine or replacement parts? Be careful in what you buy. You generally get what you pay for.

Yup, best bet would be to get a used Tig machine of better quality, something with A/C would help if you want to weld aluminum easily.

A simple guide for what a welding machine could handle is to take the maximum amperage output and move the decimal three places to the left.

So maximum output of 100 amps means that a welder can at maximum, get full penetration on 1/10" or (.100") metal. Of course you can always bevel down to the root on the material and lay multiple passes, but this is just a guide to find out what can be done in a single pass.

for under $400, that's not a bad price for a DC only machine. But all you'd be able to do is steel, no aluminum with that machine, and it would be thin steel only, so if you're doing exhausts and such then that would be fine.

I"d consider getting something with AC as well though, and something that can handle higher amperages. 90 amps is very limiting.
