I just got 18 inch rims on my civic(2000 4 door EX) recently(18/7.5 inch width, with a 42mm offset). I want to lower it so the wheels fit in the wheel well just right(tire size: 215/35/18). The thing is the front is a half of an inch higher than the back and i only need to drop it a small amount! can anybody help me out on this???thanks


p.s. i found some tanabe sustec gf210 spring that lower it 1.5 in the front and 1.0 in the back, u think this would work???

18" rims are big! I'm pretty sure that the tanabe ones will work but will it be enough to slightly tuck? H&R Sport is 1.7 front 1.5 back. I don't know though cuz I haven't really seen 18's on a civic. It might rub like crazy.

 

Don't expect the drop measurements of springs to be accurate. If you want that perfect "show quality" bullshit look, you'll need fully threaded coilovers so you can dial in the exact amount of drop you require to fulfill your icy hot fantasies.

I just bought some 215/45 17inchers and they rub everytime I turn up a hill or hit a big dip in the road. And my **** isn't lowered. (excuse my engrish) I wouldn't want to lower my car now but I would like to stiffin up the springs at stock height if possible. Any suggestions would help.

brown noser.. i did help him.. just cut the springs because most likely you dont care about suspension.. that is why you are getting 18'' and roll the fenders so it will not rub.

 

we were helping him, we're trying to get rid of a big *** 18' wheel that was not meant to be put on a civic. they make 18' wheels for certain cars, and a civic is not one of them, whats next?? 20's on a civic, I will shoot myself when I see that

i just bought and put on a set of neuspeed sport springs which is lowered 1.75 in front and 1.5 in the rear and i rub in the front when i turn sharp or the initial start of going up a hill and i have stock si wheels (15")

 

Ive got 18's on mine, just get some coilovers and be done with it. I havent had to roll my fenders and ive never had a clearance issue.

 

 

coilovers are your best bet.

Don't be too scared there hillbilly...

for the original poster. You would be best off going with an adjustable coil over system. That way you can adjust the height yourself and set it right where you want it. When doing this though be carefull becuse your shocks/struts may not be up to the task of the stiffer spring and those huge wheels. You may want to look in to getting some new struts with whatever type of springs you get, this will help stiffen up the suspension and should help make sure you don't rub.

I agree. While there are very few people on here willing to help with a modification they don't agree with, there are a chosen few who will actually help you out.

I STRONGLY suggest getting a threaded coilover so you can adjust the height to your liking. Any number of these that you should check into are Omnipower, Tein, etc.

EDIT: And remember, those 18s are more rotational mass. You should also look into upgrading your brakes at the very least to haul them to a stop and not endanger anyone else.

The brakes were also designed to stop smaller, lighter, 14"/15" wheels so your braking isnt going to be as effective.

 

would aftermarket adjustable shocks help with the stiffness? just put them on the stiffest ride and they have to help out
