losing a lot of oil
I just had a compression test done and it was fine. Im going to get a leak down done soon. My rings / head gasket / pcv system are fine. Im losing a quart- two quarts of oil every 500-1000 miles depending on how i drive.
Any ideas?

Only a suggestion, but maybe it could be your cat being clogged. I heard someone once mention that this could cause excessive backpressure which would result in excessive burning of oil.
I also WAS burning a lot of oil. Compression numbers were fine, and a leakdown came back showing a very good sealing engine. My PCV was not clogged either. One week I began to hear this annoying rattle coming from my cat, and all the heat shields were off so it wasn't them. When I asked about this on this board someone said it could be that my cat was all broken up. Interstingly, since this profuse rattling has started, my car hardly burns any oil at all.

Have you checked your cam seals, cam plugs, valve cover gasket, crank seal, and VTEC soleniod gasket?
I've already had to replace my valve cover gasket and crank seal, though the valve cover was due to some local schmuck speed shop who cut my valve cover and pinched it when they put it back on.

Actually, the crank seal made a _huge_ difference for me. I lost 3 quarts of oil in 1000 miles. The valve cover seal also caused me to lose a quart in 1000 miles. So I'd say they're worth checking.
Just trying to give you ideas of where you could be losing oil externally. Have you also checked your oil pan seal?. Of course, I would perform a visual inspection for oil in the engine bay before removing any parts - but I'm sure you know that given your setup.

wow, i had no idea the crank seal made that much of a difference... problem is i believe im getting smoke out the back. I definitely need to replace my valve cover gasket tho. I use mobil 10w30 and i dont have an oil temp gauge. My oil pan gasket is fine.
