trying to revive the EF project...need help. B16 swap.
To make the story short, I could never get my motor to run right. Now its sitting in the garage but im trying to get it to work.
When it was running my idle was really really high...about 2.5K. Checked vacuum diagrams a million times and I had it right. I did hear my valves clicking though. When I looked at the oil cap, it looked like brown gu or something. Then the last few days I had it running it started overheating. Checked radiator, it was fine, took off the thermostat, still over heated. Then it wouldn't start. When I checked the sparkplugs, they were wet with gas i believed, changed them and it fired right up. The next day it would't start again and the sparkplugs were wet again. Got it to run but it backfired and started throwing white smoke.....
I'm trying to get it running now, its been three months and I miss it!! I was thinking maybe the head needs a rebuild considering that the valves were clicking. Any ideas of where I should start with this??????? Thanks a lot.

and do a compression test.
yes, ecu is clear...no codes. When the swap was in, the guy did a compression test. I think he said it was 120 all around. He said it might had been that low because the motor was sitting for such a long time. Haven't done one since i parked it.
My friends mechanic. Supposively he said that the guy that swap it in had it 2 tooths off. So he fixed it. Then I went back later cause it was black smoking and I was throwing a map sensor code. Fixed it, then still idled high but supposively my timing was right.

About the idle problem there's a valve under the tube to the filterbox on the intake manifold on the left. Take off the hose and filter and you'll see it. I believe there's two vacuum tubes running to it. You should take it off and on the inside there's a slotted 1" retainer. Make sure it's bolted all the way down. The CRX isn't here so I can't take any pics. There was a thread on it. If anyone can find that thread post it because my description is confusing without pics!
That may clear up the idle... but as for smoke and goo... you need to have someone look at the valves.

Ok, well, I plan to get the head rebuild since the valves were clicking and new head gasket of course. Then after that I'll start looking into the other stuff. Good idea or any more suggestions???
