Does anyone know anything about legal exhausts in Mass. I know plenty of guys with them, and see even more on the streets, but a state trooper walked up to me in the parking lot at school and told me that any modified exhausts are illegal in Mass and you get a $50 fine. I'm guessing he's probably right since he's a cop but other than that I don't ever get even a second look from other cops. If anyone knows anything about the gay states laws please let me know. Thx.

Check that out. Just found that doing a quick search. But from reading that it doesn't appear that Mass has any law against aftermarket exhaust systems.

dude that was the funniest thing i heard today...99% of cops dont know dick about imports...let alone the traffic code other than speeding and the usual, bush is the president so he MUST be right....anyways, most likely if there is a law it says modifying the original exhaust is illegal, but that doesnt apply to replacing your stock exhaust with an aftermarket one, so drilling holes in stock muffler = illegal, aftermarket exhaust that meets sound laws = should be legal

 

hahah yeah, i live in mass and i had a state trooper actually pull me over for it.
he was like, "son, that there exhuast modification is illegal, that's $100 dollar fine."
i was like, "officer, no it's not, everyone has them, i assure you it's perfectly legal"
"you think i don't know my laws!!!"
then he just got back in his car and drove away without giving me a ticket. WTF?? is it illegal or not??, if it is, why the hell didn't he give me a ticket? mass troopers are retarded.

 

he didnt ticket you cause he realized your driving a honda, and that your car was really JDM, and so he realized you woulda smoked his crown vic interceptor in the 1/8th mile.....

if you dont need to go to a smog ref, then its not illegal to have an aftermarket exhaust, simple as that......however, you need to check with your city clerk on city ordinances/state + county laws regarding sound pollution from vehicles.....if it has a CARB sticker, theres a 99.9% chance its legal anywhere in the US
