Default Another Insurance thread...

I know we like to compare good old insurance rates, and I just got a great call from State Farm...

A woman from State Farm called and said that since my 25th birthday is coming up in November they need me to fill out a form to drop the insurance rates on my Type R. She asked if I drive is daily and I said no, I drive it on the weekends only in the summer(pretty much true).
She said ok, in that case we'll make it a low use vehicle. I'll have the same deductables, just pay alot less.

Here's the good stuff: Old Rate 124.98/month
New Rate 73.12
Savings: $51.86/month!

Maybe I'm a little over excited, but I look at it like an extra $50 in my pocket every month

That's a good price. I am switching from State Farm to Travelers next month. I got a quote on my 98 ITR which is my weekend car as well. I had them add a $9000 supplement to cover my modifications to the car. They quoted me $871 a year which is $72 a month. Just thought that I would share....

3 Claims in 2 years owned my ***.... Even though I got no tickets and nothing is on my record (got out of all tickets) they still didn't like it. State Farm droped me and now I pay $290 a month (plus $600 down to start a new policy with progressive). Oh well, guess thats life. Weird thing, did a quote on a new M3 and it would actually lower my insurance

How is that even possible?!? Not saying you're lying, I just find that *very* hard to believe. What are your deductables?

Well if you won't I will.

I personally don't think this is on the straight. i.e. parents pay the premiums or you are even on the policy and the car itself is just insured.

They are tons of ways to lower your rates, many of them not totally legit.

A little FYI...
I get the "good driver discount", and multiple car discount too, so they help a bit too.

The $46 is a bit hard to believe. But MAYBE if he's 25 himself, perfect record, policy is under a parents name that has a perfect record, multi car discount, good driver discount, good grade discount(State Farm offers this). Maybe after all that I could probable be around $46 I'm guessing.

I don't have a scanner, anyways, why should i lie?
I have minimum state required on liability coverage, and 1000 deductible on both comprehensive and collision.

Ah. There it is. I don't consider deductables that high to be "full coverage." When I still had my Hype R, I carried a $250 collision and $0 comprehensive deductables, and I paid around $85 a month. My medical/liability limits were higher as well. FWIW, Geico quoted me about $220 a month for similar coverage (some coverages they could not match, like extended-limit rental car and towing).

The Geico quote was without the multicar, multi-line and accident-free discounts I get with State Farm. Now, my total monthly insurance bill is $146, and that covers four cars, life insurance and a personal articles policy.

Despite what you have typed I live in Brooklyn and could not get a quote lower then $13,000 per year with a clean license.

I'm still having a hard time swallowing what you wrote.

No joke here.

And that was the lowest I was quoted about 1 year ago. the highest was Geico at $8,000 every six months.

I told the lady to take her left hand and to start yanking my D_ _ _ really hard for me to pay that, And then she said that was not right of me to say that. I said now you know how I feel!!!

Yeah I'm a SOB...
