Default Custom Radiator Hose -AN conversion stuff

For my new setup, I need to chop off the lower radiator hose pipe on my fluidyne for fitment. I plan on welding a plate in its place and using a -12an fitting on the side of the radiator.

The problem is, how the hell do I connect the other end to the thermostat housing?

My idea:
Weld a plate over the housing inlet, drill and tap for 3/4" pipe and use a -12AN to 3/4NPT adaptor. Does anyone have any better solution?

IF thats the way I go, I need to get a hold of some 1.3" dia solid aluminum bar stock - anyone got any in small quantities?
