running rich open loop during idle
Car runs rich during idle, changed o2 sensor. My a/f gauge only bounces back and forth during cruising, and it reads lean sometimes at high rpm. If I lean it out w/ the adjustable fpr then the idle will be ok but itll be lean up top. Thanks for your responses.

Lean = detanation
Rich is ok
If you add fuel you will be ok, Read A/F guage in 3rd gear and see what it says.

Increase fuel pressure and drill a hole in the return of the fpr.
Corrects the leaning out condition at high rpms and not so rich at idle.
I run 50 psi (hose off) /40 (hose on fpr). This is how i'm set up now.

Or would getting some bigger injectors and a vafc be a better idea?

i was hoping i wouldnt have to resort to the safc cause putting another fuel pump in the ef is gonna be a bitch.
I got the b&m so ill try that. thanks.

Drilling a hole in the fpr, wouldnt that just lower the fuel pressure throughout the whole rpm range? Because i run rich idle and lean up top. I could lower the psi at idle to a range i like but it will be lean up top. i just need it to go into closed loop during idle.

You drill a tiny 1/32" hole in it and raise the pressure. The hole passes more fuel and fuel pressure at idle is lowered. Has no effect at full throttle. What motor? What's your fuel pressure? Unless you have a walbro 255 or similar you shouldn't have to do this.

d16a, w/ inline pump. no pressure readings yet because my gauge is still on my fuel filter, and i didnt relocate it yet. I never had this problem until i installed the pump. So you're are saying that the hole won't be a problem during wot, because its too small to effect wot, but it's a good enough size to releive pressure during idle? well I guess ill see what happens, but do you have to prime it everytime you startup?

Give it a shot. It's not hard to find a another fpr if it doesn't work. I suggest letting a machine shop do this. I screwed up my first one. 48 (wot)/44 (idle) before drilling, 50/40 after. The car is a little harder to start when cold. I removed fitv, drilled the hole in the fpr, and relocated battery all in the same weekend. I think it's the fitv that's causing it. Once warm no problems.
I wait until the yellow light goes out and then i turn it over.

Well I was able to drill it today. I just drove it for a little while. I noticed that idle was leaner, so lean that i cant even start my car if I took the fuse out of the inline fuel pump and ran only the stock pump. I saw that the before fuel pressure was 4-5psi difference between hose on and hose off. I couldnt check what it was after though b/c my gauge is still on the filter. well i just need to drive it around more to see if it leans under wot or not. thanks for the info.
